Every year, do you get to about December 9th and promise yourself that next year you'll start in early November and plan well for Advent so that you are totally prepared with a plan and supplies (and advent candles) on the first Sunday of Advent? Yeah, me too!
This year, my friends, we're going to do it! Please join me at St. Veronica in Chantilly to be inspired to seize this Advent for all it has to offer. A one-of-a-kind workshop, this conference has been lovingly put together by some very gifted ladies. And they are so pleased to be able to offer it. Colleen Rooney tells me, "Living Advent is a work of love for me, and I dare say for all the Living Advent Team and helpers. It is going to be a grace-filled day. I do not doubt it for one second. God has opened many doors. Evelyn Birge Vitz, author of A Continual Feast, is a wonderful, Catholic woman of many talents, which she shares with a great many people. Her talk will delight, inspire, and encourage her audience. She will lift us up with wisdom. Her three daughters and her daughter-in-law will join her towards the end of her talk to share how they prepare for Christmas through Advent with some of the traditions she introduced as they were growing up in the Vitz family. "
The workshops are numerous. Some very gifted women will speak to their strengths. There are talks planned on cooking and baking and crafting, on sacred art and music for the season, on family prayer and on ways to live mercy as we prepare for Christmas. My friend
Laraine Bennett, author of numerous {excellent} books, will tie it all together for us at the end and help us make a clear plan for both the Martha and the Mary in Advent.
I plan to present a workshop on how to use the web to live a fully engaged contemplative and active Advent. We'll discuss the plethora of apps that can help you organize prayer time and actually inspire you to pray all day. I wrote my talk a couple of months ago and honestly, I misunderstood. I thought it was to be all about prayer. Will you pray for me as I amend it today and tomorrow and get it ready for November 3rd? We'll begin with prayer and then, we'll talk about all the ways we can find great Advent recipes, activities, books, and family traditions on the internet and bring them into our homes. Hmmm, wonder where I'll start;-)?
I'm looking forward to seeing local readers there, so much so that I'd like to offer you a chance at a free registration. Please leave a link to your favorite online Advent resource or idea below, and you'll be entered to win a registration to this fabulous conference for free. I'll announce the winner on Tuesday, so she can make plans
, but don't wait until then to register--it's filling fast. If you win, and you're already registered, bring a friend!
