Fast. Pray. Give.

Fast

After you complete any essential morning tasks at the computer for the first time today, turn it off. Do not return to the computer today unless/until it is essential for the running of your household or the care of your children.

Pray

"The silence is so great that I look and do not see, Listen and do not hear. The tongue moves in prayer, but does not speak"(Blessed Teresa of Calcutta).

Give

"It is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the doing. It is not how much we give, but how much love we put in the giving" (Blessed Teresa of Calcutta)

With every "gift" of service that you give today, give a smile too.

Thoughts on the amazing events of the last week: God Got it Done

When the print version of this column appears in mailboxes, it will have been a week since Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio took the name Pope Francis. A week is an eternity in this brave new world of instant information and opinions. Sometimes I am certain that thoughtful mothers who wait for something to percolate before writing should just give up in the digital age. But my editor told me to take my time. So I did and I soaked in every anecdote, every sweet observation, and every one of Pope Francis’ public words in those very early days of his pontificate. With every new wave of information, I was more impressed by the Holy Spirit. Seriously, God got it done. Please read the rest here.
